- Tips to driver
On the first day, your driver will pick you up from your hotel or riad at 8:00 am to begin your journey south from Marrakech. You’ll traverse the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, which, at 2260 meters, is the highest in Morocco, offering breathtaking panoramas of valleys, peaks, and several nearby Berber villages.
As you head toward Ouarzazate, you’ll stop to explore Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most iconic and well-preserved Kasbahs in Morocco. This location has served as a backdrop for numerous films such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Game of Thrones. The route then takes you towards the Dades Valley, passing through the Berber villages of Mgouna and Skoura. Your evening will be spent in the Dades region.
On the second day of the tour, we will depart from Dades in the morning after you’ve had breakfast and freshened up. Our first stop will be the Todra Gorges, a stunning and narrow canyon that gets its name from the resemblance to a human “throat” or gorge.
You’ll have the opportunity to take a leisurely stroll through the canyon, admiring the natural beauty and listening to the soothing sounds of the river flowing through it. After exploring Todra Gorge, we’ll set off towards Merzouga, passing through captivating landscapes dotted with palm oases and traditional Berber villages. Along the way, we’ll pass the town of Erfoud, where you’ll witness the start of the vast Saharan oasis of Tafilalet, before continuing on to Merzouga.
Depending on our arrival time, you’ll either have a chance to relax before embarking on your camel trek, or we’ll begin the trek immediately to reach the desert camp. The camel trek typically starts around 17:00-18:00 in the summer, or 15:00-16:00 in the winter, and lasts about an hour. Upon arriving at the camp, you’ll be greeted by the breathtaking sight of the Sahara dunes and a spectacular sunset. You’ll be welcomed with traditional Moroccan tea, and later, dinner will be served in the main tent. As the night unfolds, locals will entertain you with Berber music by the campfire. Before bed, don’t forget to gaze up at the sky for a mesmerizing view of countless stars.
On the third day, we’ll wake you up early to experience a breathtaking sunrise over the desert (if you’d like). After enjoying breakfast and freshening up, the day will begin. You’ll have the option to either ride camels back to Merzouga or be picked up directly from the desert camp by car.
Once you reunite with your driver, we’ll set off on the return journey to Marrakech, passing through scenic landscapes and several Berber villages such as Alnif, Tazarine, and N’kob, before reaching Ouarzazate. From there, we’ll retrace our route through the High Atlas Mountains. We anticipate arriving in Marrakech in the evening, around 18:00 to 19:00, depending on the time of departure and any stops made along the way.
